>listening to: obviously, the arctic monkeys<
I wish there had been photos to capture the shitshow that was last night. [I would have pictures, had my new phone arrived on time!] I behaved in a way I haven't in quite some time... Thanks to an old friend by the name of Jim Beam. Definitely took me back to my ridiculous, reckless whiskey days...
Why the self indulgent celebration you may ask? Two words: Arctic Monkeys. After I put on my dancing shoes :), I arrived at the venue just in time to hear the last chords of the shitty opening band, positioned myself five feet from the bar outside (it was a gorgeous night) and once I began dancing, I didn't stop- except to take multiple whiskey shots, of course.
This British indie band's performance was exactly what I'd expected it would be. Extremely high energy, charismatic (their accents helped with that; ), entertaining- never a dull moment. Matt Helders rocked the shit out of those drums! They were D-A-N-G-E-R-O-U-S! (Please excuse my campy humor, but I had to reference Dangerous Animals because I fucking love that song.) The majority of the songs they played were from Humbug (Crying Lightening... Marvelous.) and Whatever People Say I am, That's What I'm Not- which is my personal favorite. In fact, I think it's everyone's favorite! Who doesn't love The View From the Afternoon and I Bet You Look Good on the Dance Floor?
If ever you have the chance to see this band live- DO IT. I've been treating myself to a hell of a good time lately and I'm so glad the Arctic Monkeys got to be a part of it! It felt amazing to be immersed in a favorite, the company (bff) was perfect, the booze, the music, the endless dancing in gathering darkness. Just lovely.
